Behind the Content: A Creative Process Built on Heart & Habit
Every page of the Poised & Proper curriculum might look polished and pretty (and it is), but behind it all is a white desk, big windows full of sunshine, soft music playing in the background… and me, fueled by matcha, water, and the occasional bloom drink—with my cat Binx curled up nearby like the quietest creative assistant ever.
I create from a place of peace, purpose, and a little sparkle. Here’s how your students’ favorite modules come to life—step by step.
Step One: The Spark
It starts with a question.Something like: “How do I teach kids to apologize sincerely?” or “How can I make friendship skills fun instead of preachy?”
I pick a topic—sometimes from classroom needs, sometimes from something I saw in a coffee shop or remembered from my own childhood—and then I start mapping it out in Notion or on giant sheets of chart paper (a throwback to my teacher days).
Step Two: Build the Module
Once I know the topic, I build a full experience around it:
What reading can go with this?
What task cards will make it click?
What real-life activity would actually get kids moving and talking?
What video or story will spark emotion?
I believe in teaching through doing—not just listening. So every module is designed to be interactive and engaging for both the teacher and the student.
Step Three: Design with Delight
When the plan is solid, I open Canva and get to work. Bright colors. Playful illustrations. A little whimsy. I don’t design for what’s trendy—I design for what feels good. If I’d be excited to use it, I know a student will be too.
And I always imagine the teacher on the other end, with a full classroom and a full heart, hoping for something that works and is actually fun to teach.
Step Four: Package It with Purpose
I add:
Teacher’s Guide – Clear steps, prompts, and tips
Slides – For easy delivery
Student Pages – Colorful, engaging, and age-appropriate
Task Cards – To reinforce and apply what was taught
Games, Activities, Videos – To bring it to life
Parent Letters – So families can extend the learning at home
Every piece fits together like a puzzle—designed to be intuitive, meaningful, and enjoyable.
Why I Love This Work
Yes, it’s creative. Yes, it’s fun. But mostly? It matters. I love knowing that what I create helps teachers breathe a little easier, and helps students feel a little more confident in the world.
There’s nothing more powerful than seeing a kid learn how to shake a hand, say thank you, or apologize with real sincerity. Want to bring these materials into your classroom or homeschool space? 👉 Browse the full curriculum here
