Q: I am having trouble controlling my emotions, particularly sadness. What can I do?


A: It’s okay to feel sad from time to time. You can take hold of your emotions by identifying what you’re feeling. ​

2. What happened to make me feel this way? ​

3. Does this situation have a different explanation that might make sense?​

4. What can I do about these feelings? ​

5. Is there a better way of coping with my feelings?​


Take a deep breath, give yourself some space, and try to identify what you’re feeling. You can talk to someone you trust if you cannot identify what you're feeling on your own. ​
